週二(10月29日)，黃之鋒被取消區議員參選資格DQ引起美國國極大關注，美國國會及行政當局中國委員會及多位議員相繼出聲，促美國參議院盡快通過《香港人權民主法案》。
美國國會及行政當局中國委員會（cecc ）發出推文：香港政府拒絕黃之鋒提名參加區議會選舉，這侵犯了香港人享有《基本法》所保障的參選權。香港人應該選擇在沒有審查制度或政治壓力的情況下自由選舉個人。
